The Dumb Friends League is the largest community-based animal welfare organization in the Rocky Mountain region, providing a strong and steadfast voice for those who cannot speak for themselves--our companion animal friends. The Dumb Friends League welcomes and cares for more than 20,000 homeless pets and horses each year, regardless of whether they are old or injured, in good health or in need of special care. In addition to finding loving homes for pets, the Dumb Friends League provides veterinary care, behavior training and foster care to homeless pets in need while pursuing its mission of ending pet homelessness and animal suffering.

Founded in 1910, the organization was named after a London, England animal welfare society called "Our Dumb Friends League." In those days, the term "dumb" was widely used to refer to animals because they lacked the power of human speech. Today, the Dumb Friends League, headquartered in Denver, has one of the highest placement rates of homeless pets in the country.
